Checklist for Getting Started

DURING THE ORIENTATION WEEK OR UPON YOUR ARRIVAL
✔Register at the university dormitory (pay the deposit and bring a photograph)
✔Report to the International Office
✔Enroll at the Faculty Student Affairs Office
✔Deal with formalities - get the ISIC card, open a bank account, register with the Foreign Police or the Visa Office
✔Get connected - activate your university e-mail account, register and connect to wireless LAN
✔Buy - transportation pass, meals in the university online system
✔Organize your courses
✔Get informed, oriented and involved - the Erasmus Student Network Liberec will support you
✔Discover your new home

ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR VISA IS VALID
Attention: The process of visa renewal should start at least 2 months before your visa expires!
Please keep in mind that we are required by law to inform the Czech Ministry of Interior of your student status.

You will need to visit this office to:

  • apply for the confirmation of your residence permit (within 3 working days after your arrival in the Czech Republic) if you are from a non-EU country and your visa is marked D/VR
  • report a loss of your passport or residence permit - immediately
  • report a change in your place of residence in the Czech Republic or other changes related to your residence (within 30 days)
  • apply for a temporary residence permit for a family member of an EU citizen or an extension of a residence card
  • apply for a certificate of temporary residence (EU citizens)
  • apply for a permanent residence permit
  • apply for a long-term residence permit or its extension
  • apply for an extension of the permitted period of stay on a long-term visa

If you are NOT staying in our dormitories, you will need to visit this office to:

  • apply for the confirmation of your residence permit (within 3 working days after your arrival in the Czech Republic) if you are from a non-EU country and your visa is marked D/VC - for people staying in dormitories it is done by the dormitory office
